Explore an exciting new career in television and video recording with Ho’ike Kaua’i Community Television. We host television production classes and producer certification training at our offices in Lihue, Hawaii. Any Kauai resident is eligible, and encouraged, to take the course. Our instructors teach you all the skills you’ll need to record, edit, and produce your own television programs. Graduates of our programs receive a certification to use our studio’s equipment and software.

Training Summary

Television production is an industry where creativity meets communication. After attending our classes, you will have all the skills you need to be a part of an active community of filmmakers, actors, writers, and technicians. The opportunities are limited only by your imagination. Our training program is broken down into the following categories:

Production and Certification Classes

Ho’ike’s Certified Producer class teaches you how to produce a program in its entirety. We start you with the basics–such as the proper setup, use, and care of the camera, tripod, and audio equipment. Afterward, we show you how to use Final Cut Pro and its various features, including transitions, overlaid text, and background music.

Once you learn how to shoot and edit footage, we teach you how to prepare your work for publication. The final leg of the course teaches how to output projects to a Quicktime video file. Finally, you learn about the submission process.

Advanced Training

Expand your skill set with our special training sessions. These specialized classes include topics like advanced Final Cut Pro, lighting equipment, green screen effects, and more advanced techniques that give your programs a personality of their own.
